That’s right, it’s back in Adelaide.
My name is Rino D’Alfonso and I am a very passionate drag racer. I have been waiting and waiting for something to happen in Adelaide for 10+ years. I have seen too many of my friends and associates diminish out of the sport they used to love because there was nowhere for us to go racing. I have seen them sell their pride and joys and give their cars away for next to nothing. I have seen business related to the sport just fade away in our home town whilst businesses of the same thrive interstate. I have seen a whole generation of young people who would not know what a drag car or drag racing event is, only when they hear it on the news because someone has lost their life to so called drag racing on the street. Well that is all about to change. That’s right, it’s coming back to Adelaide once again.
I, Rino D’Alfonso of Racing Onn Promotions have been working in conjunction with land and premises owner Rodney Jane himself to secure my sport of drag racing back in Adelaide at Adelaide International Raceway. I have been working vigorously for the past 12 months with Rodney to secure the first date of 26th November 2011 for the first 1/8th mile street meeting featuring some group one top doorslammer vehicles that will be there to make the official opening one to remember. Continuous meetings from the first meeting in November will take place so that finally we have a place to race off the street. The future meeting will feature street meeting, top fuel, top alcohol, pro stock, funny cars.
The cost factor to get this to happen is substantial and I am seeking the help and support from local and major business to sponsor certain areas of the events to make it more successful. The events will happen as I am willing to take the total cost of my own back so that people in Adelaide have a place to race.
